Learning the Fundamentals of Art
The Parkview Christian Academy Art Program provides students with opportunities to explore their creativity while learning the fundamentals of art. Students work with a wide variety of media including pencil, acrylic paint, watercolor, oil pastel, chalk pastel, clay, ink, papier-mâché, colored pencil, and mixed media.
Throughout the year, students build artistic skills, learn new techniques, and develop confidence through hands-on projects. One of the highlights of the school year is our annual Art Show, where every student’s artwork is displayed. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity, growth, and hard work of each student.

Elementary Art
Elementary Art
Kindergarten–6th Grade
All elementary students participate in art class once each week in our dedicated art classroom. Lessons are designed to introduce students to a variety of materials and techniques while building a strong foundation in the elements and principles of art. Students learn through step-by-step instruction, gaining confidence as they develop skills such as drawing, painting, sculpting, color mixing, craftsmanship, and presentation.
They also learn to care for art materials, clean up their work area, and take pride in producing their very best work. As students grow, they are given more opportunities to make creative choices and develop their own artistic ideas.

Junior High &
Junior High &
High School Art
Art becomes an elective beginning in junior high, so students who enroll are typically excited to be there and enjoy creating. Projects become more open-ended, encouraging students to think creatively, solve problems, and develop their own artistic style. While lessons often begin with demonstrations and instruction as a class, students are encouraged to create original artwork based on the overall concept rather than simply copying an example.
As students progress through high school, projects become more challenging and often push them outside of their comfort zone while helping them grow as artists. Students work with a wide variety of media and are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and develop their own unique voice.
They are also encouraged to draw outside of class as much as possible through regular sketchbook assignments, helping them strengthen their observation skills and continue growing between class periods.

Every student’s artwork is displayed during Parkview Christian Academy’s annual Art Show. The event gives families, teachers, and the school community an opportunity to recognize each student’s creativity, progress, and hard work throughout the year.
